BEACHRUGBY RULES

The same rules apply to beach rugby as to field rugby, with the exception of the following rules:

  1. The field must be of loose sand and be outlined by a clearly visible line.
  2. Kick-off of the match is for the team that wins the toss. The kick-off takes place via a tapkick.
  3. Kick-off of the 2nd half is for the other team, also via a tapkick.
  4. Kick-off after a score is taken by the team that got the try against and this is done in the same way as a penalty kick is taken. Out of the hands on the foot (not on the knee) and catch again after which the player may pass or attack.
  5. It is not allowed to kick.
  6. Substitutions can be done continuously (i.e. ‘rolling subs’). A reserve player may only enter the playing field if the player to be substituted has actually left the field.
  7. Time. After the 1st half of the game, we switch sides and play on immediately. The referee ultimately decides on the total playing time.

Draw in the knockout rounds

If a match in a knockout round ends in a draw, try-outs follow:

After the toss, the attacker starts on the center line, the defender on the try line. As soon as the attacker starts, the defender is allowed to engage. If the attacker comes to the ground with his body and / or with 1 knee, the attempt must be stopped. If this does not result in a winner after a series of 3 (i.e. 3 attacks by both teams), the series will continue on the basis of ‘sudden death’. Until one team misses where the other team scores.
